I was feeling overwhelmed until I realized this…

“The meaning of SELF-CARE: Quality time to commune with your greater wisdom and deeper guidance, so you can receive. True self-care results in your feeling an overflow of love and energy.”
Jennifer Hough

For the first time in a long time, I felt overwhelmed yesterday and I couldn’t see a solid reason why. Then it came to me….

Whether you are in the USA or not, when 330 million people are in upheaval, it affects the whole of humanity. Just like in Europe, there is Brexit that is also affecting the whole. Again, everything feels like it is in limbo, and that does affect you, no matter where you live. Even if you are in New Zealand right now!

When all the balls feel like they are in the air, it affects our nervous systems. That part of us that wants life to be predictable, wants to “land” something. You might even want to go and organize, complete something, or clean your closets, just to know you can “do” something.

We can also get edgy and anxious.

MY RECOMMENDATION: BE KIND.

Do something that feeds your soul: paint, walk, take a drive, listen to beautiful music, talk to a friend who lives far away, write gratitude notes to people and send them.

Avoidance will not work half as well as engaging in a practice that gets your energy and emotions to a more vibrant place. It takes focus to do that. You must choose to focus on that vibrant place; otherwise, you will be a victim to those incomplete energies.

YES, YOU actually need to CHOOSE to focus on that of which you desire more.

The three practices that keep the world AS IT IS:

Complaining about how life/politics/conspiracies are right, to others,
Gossiping about what you don’t like in your leaders, friends or family, or
Avoiding stuck energy, and being alone with your problems instead of asking for assistance.

The three practices that can shift YOUR world and THE world:

Spending at least 11 minutes per day appreciating what you love about your world or the world and, EVEN BETTER, imagining one that you desire,
Immersing yourself in the harmony of nature, and noticing that harmony while you are there, and
Take action when you are in that energy/state; e.g., phoning or writing thank you notes in order not only to shift yourself, but to remind others to be in their hearts. Join a volunteer organization. Get some creative work done, etc.

The sun IS going down across the street behind the mountains here at my house. A new day IS coming, one way or another. Remember that we all live under the same sun, the same moon and the same stars.

But we do have a say in how each day goes.

Just a little reminder to maybe use this meditation on the Zero Point every morning. It certainly helps me.

With love,
Jennifer

Should we only do things that ‘feel good’?

Well, you might be surprised to hear me say absolutely not.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not about deliberately forcing ourselves to do things that feel awful.

It’s just that I hear so many people saying… “only do it if it feels good”.

Here’s the issue with that:

Fear does an interesting thing to our brains.

I was listening to a brilliant podcast a few days ago which my husband reminded me about. Although they didn’t talk about this specifically, it struck me how important it is to understand how our brains work. In understanding this, I’m able to follow my knowing and feel connected to clarity, instead of being manipulated by noise which can only happen if I’m in fear; it’s so easy to be in fear these days, don’t you think?

Fight or flight creates an interesting shift in the brain causing us to relate to those who disagree with our viewpoint as the “other”, and there are those who want to manipulate others in order to protect themselves.

The key to thriving is…

The key to thriving is…

A key to thriving is remembering that doing this is actually important.

It’s ‘nothing’.

That’s the thing, doing nothing is doing something.I’m sure you’ve sometimes tried to keep pushing through a project when life is showing you the harder and longer you push, the more unproductive things get, right?

I’m so guilty of feeling invincible or, put another way, stubbornly carrying on instead of being present to what life is showing, or sometimes commanding, me to do.
