What if other people seem to be affecting your flow? Can you change them?

From the Wide Awakening Weekly

“It is not the other person that is bothering you… it is your expectation that they should be other than they are.” ~ Jennifer Hough (Tweetable)

I was reminded in a workshop recently that oftentimes we are attached to an expectation, and we measure others against that expectation. What if we only attach to expectations to increase the perceived likelihood that we will be safe if others meet them? What if someone meeting our expectations will not make us more safe or secure?

Isn’t it our ego that attaches to ideas that someone should change to make us happier or behave differently so that we won’t be unhappy? The Universe made all of us free to choose, free to be around those we choose and also free to make a difference instead of feeling like a victim. That can look many ways.

How about, instead, we live in the wonder of who people are? That way, life remains an adventure and others are free to hold themselves to their own magnificence.

With Love,

P.S. OMGosh! What are we gonna do with all this extra time, now that we’re not waiting for everyone to change?

If you have an experience with waiting for people to change, we’d love to hear about it in the comments below.

Simultaneously, that polarity and struggle is birthing ideas being acted upon by the younger generation as it sits in the ‘dark matter’ of consciousness, waiting in the sub-atomic spaces to be birthed!

Metaphysically speaking, for every problem there is already an existing solution as it’s part of how the Universe stays in balance.

Should we only do things that ‘feel good’?

Well, you might be surprised to hear me say absolutely not.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not about deliberately forcing ourselves to do things that feel awful.

It’s just that I hear so many people saying… “only do it if it feels good”.

Here’s the issue with that:

Fear does an interesting thing to our brains

Fear does an interesting thing to our brains.

I was listening to a brilliant podcast a few days ago which my husband reminded me about. Although they didn’t talk about this specifically, it struck me how important it is to understand how our brains work. In understanding this, I’m able to follow my knowing and feel connected to clarity, instead of being manipulated by noise which can only happen if I’m in fear; it’s so easy to be in fear these days, don’t you think?

Fight or flight creates an interesting shift in the brain causing us to relate to those who disagree with our viewpoint as the “other”, and there are those who want to manipulate others in order to protect themselves.
