I was just on a cruise with a whole lot of brilliant, fascinating, very shiny people… and, honestly, I found everyone was trying a little bit to get everyone else’s attention.
Not in a bad way.
Just in that very human way we do when we want to be seen, felt, chosen, noticed. There were big personalities, big energy and big presence everywhere.
And it got me thinking about how this world is basically one giant disco ball of distraction. Reels, headlines, opinions, doom scrolling, sales pitches, sensationalized everything… it is all trying to tap you on the shoulder and say, “Look at me. No, really, look at me.” And somewhere in the middle of all that noise, it becomes very easy to forget that your attention is not a casual thing.
It is creative currency. It is life-force. It is how your world gets made. It’s valuable.
About halfway through the cruise, I had this little inner exhale. I could feel how easy it is for me, sometimes, to go chasing shiny objects, too. Not just content or clickbait, but people. Sparkly humans. Fascinating humans. The kind that makes your nervous system go, “Ooooh, maybe over there.” And then something in me leaned back.
Not in a dramatic way.
More like… I remembered myself. I realized I did not want to run around trying to convince, pursue, or gather. I wanted to simply be the invitation to make a difference. I wanted to be available to the people who could feel themselves genuinely magnetized to what we are creating at The Wide Awakening.
And the funny, beautiful thing is once I stopped chasing, everything started coming to me. The right conversations. The right little moments of resonance. It was weirdly effortless and completely heartwarming.
That is so much more in alignment with the thriving operating system. Everything comes to you.
And oh, how I want that for you. Not a life where you are forever being cast as an extra in somebody else’s blockbuster of urgency, branding, panic, or performance but a life that actually feels like your own strange, beautiful, meaningful movie.
Because if you are not building what calls to your heart, you will eventually feel the ache of living in someone else’s plotline, and that ache is real.
Our lives were meant to be “for our visions” and against nothing. To know what has your name on it.
You do not need to out-shine the shiny. You do not need to wrestle every distraction to the ground. You just need to get clear enough, honest enough, and available enough that what is yours can find you.
And trust me, it wants to.
