“You often feel tired, not because you’ve done too much, but because you’ve done too little of what sparks a light in you.”
– Jennifer Hough
This morning, I was watching bumblebees sip nectar from lamb’s ear. Sometimes one foot away from me, sometimes two.
It was deeply calming.
Here’s what I noticed:
They all tended to visit the same flowers. But when they landed on a flower that another bee had already visited, they let go quickly and moved on.
When they found a flower no one had touched yet, they lingered longer—drinking it all in.
I know it’s a strange thing, this pollen accounting. But it’s just how my brain works.
It’s brilliant, but not all that deep.
Spend more time where the nectar is still fresh, where the goodness is waiting for you. And maybe spend a little less time where the sweetness has already been sipped dry.
From my visit with the lamb’s ear this morning, one thing’s clear:
There’s an abundance of bumblebees in my neighborhood.
Which is why my eyes stayed out here, soaking it up.
There was goodness.
And benefit.
For my soul.
How much time do you spend on flowers with no pollen?
Oh—and here’s the thing I love most:
The bumblebees don’t judge a flower for having no pollen.
They just move on with grace, those big, fuzzy, miraculous bodies bumbling through the air like flying teddy bears, defying physics with every flap.
If they can do it, so can we.
And another thing? I didn’t notice a single bee mad at another for stopping at “their” flower.
No buzzing blame. No territorial tantrums.
Just shared residue, joyfully passed along in the goodness of each other’s footsteps.
Sure, I’m anthropomorphizing.
But I’m also pretty sure there’s intuitive truth in it all.
Just thought I’d share my morning.
And speaking of where the goodness still is…
That’s kind of the whole point of Innate Abilities 2.0—tapping into the places inside you that still hold nectar, clarity, and ease… the gifts that were always yours, just waiting to be remembered.
Here’s to flying toward what’s sweet, true, and YOU shall we?
